So thats the end of my travel adventures, for now! Financial constraints have brought me crashing back to earth at an alarming speed! I dare say it will be my last adventure but for now its amazing to be home with my dog, proper tea and bloody snow!!!!
Laos
Laos to most is a mystery; until recently it was the least visited country in south east asia, one of the least industrialised and one of the poorest, with a communist government which has kept it isolated.
Thankfully it leaves a lot to explore, it is dominated by superb French colonial architecture and jostles for position next to the mighty Mekong river.
Laos truly is a very special place.
With only a short amount of time to in Laos i spent just one day in its capital; Vientiane.
I think it has to be one of only a few places in the world whose capital city shows no mark of any western chain, thats right you won't find any glowing franchises here!
No Photos allowed inside!
Local Laos specialty: Lap, a fermented meat salad served with snake beans!
With a completely mangled finger and an irrational fear of heights i decided to go rock climbing!
What was i thinking?!!!!
Next stop Vang Vieng, made famous by happy shakes and moronic westerners tubing down the river listening to a medley of Black Eyed Peas, Akon and the song which i will never forget: "Riverside" ! God if i here that one more time i will have to kill myself!!!!
Despite my grumblings i actually had a a good laugh on the river!
I think these entrepreneurs get good business thanks to some midnight munchies!
Anyway time to get away from those pesky westerners and head into the heart of Laos!
Found this little blighter whilst stumbling through these very impressive caves:
Laos was brilliant! I have to come back, 10 days just doesn't do it justice!
Next stop Vietnam! Again!
My planning sucks, i have pretty much zig zagged my way across south east asia!
